On February 19, Straughan was the recipient of an Engineering Excellence Award at the 2015 ACEC/MD Awards Banquet!
Straughan submitted the Methodology for Pavement Application Using Foam Stabilized Base project which was selected as a finalist. The project received the Outstanding Project Award (2nd place). Being selected as a finalist for ACEC/MD qualified Straughan to submit for the national competition in April!
Global Resource Recyclers (GRR) engaged Straughan Environmental and the University of Maryland, School of Engineering to develop a methodology to account for the reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with foam stabilized base (FSB) pavement as an alternative to traditional hot mix asphalt (HMA). This methodology has been submitted to the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) to be applied for carbon trading.
