Straughan’s Brooke Lane Off-Site Woodland Conservation Bank awarded Small Project of the Year by the County Engineers Association of Maryland (CEAM).
Straughan, along with Prince George’s County, employed two innovative solutions in the project. We leveraged emergent on-site forests as a forest mitigation credit, and we used goats to gobble up chocolate vine and other invasive species in a low environmental impact, cost effective manner.
Special thanks to Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, Straughan employees Eric Duce and Kate Traut, and the rest of the project team.
The award was given “in recognition of an outstanding County Project that addresses the needs of the citizens, provides a cost effective solution and demonstrates innovative engineering and construction.”
