We are pleased to announce that Brian Bernstein, AICP, ISA-CA has joined Straughan as the Director of Environmental Planning.
Brian comes to Straughan with a long history of leading environmental planning programs. He has worked in the role of Director/Division Chief for the past 17 years and has 30 years of experience providing environmental assessment, documentation, permitting and monitoring services for various infrastructure projects throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. Brian brings a deep well of experience interfacing with Federal, State, and local agencies as well as environmental non-profit organizations. He has successfully managed numerous multi-million dollar government contracts and led geographic expansion of services efforts in his previous positions.

Brian holds a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Towson University. He is a member of several local committees and groups committed to fostering environmental excellence in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Baltimore County Commission on Environmental Quality, Baltimore County Small Action Plan Committees for Loch Raven North and Upper Jones Falls, Trout Unlimited, and ACEC. Brian is a Certified Planner, ISA Certified Arborist, and Maryland DNR Licensed Tree Expert and Qualified Professional (Forest Stand Delineator).
