Our Approach

Straughan factored current and future policy and program requirements as outlined in the Climate Solutions Now Act (CSNA), available funding opportunities, facility-specific energy audit recommendations, widely recognized best climate practices, and current MTA climate strategies and plans into a set of action items and next steps for MTA to remain compliant with state policy updates and contribute to the state’s goal to reach net-zero by 2045. Straughan identified actions MTA is already undergoing or planning, as well as additional actions MTA should take towards reducing emissions, including implementing ZEV training programs and battery-electric bus SOPs and eliminating usage of HFCs in all MTA facilities. The final report for the project summarizes all research and investigative tasks completed during the project, identifies corresponding funding opportunities, lists the resulting action item recommendations, and states action items required for MTA to adhere to state legislation and contribute to state climate goals outlined in the CSNA.
