Our Approach
The renovation of the Evans Parkway Neighborhood Park in Silver Spring, MD was designed to meet the Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES) certification. As a firm qualified to oversee SITES-certified projects, Straughan was brought on by the landscape construction contractor to ensure that the sustainable design strategies were implemented and documented to achieve this green certification.
Straughan developed a SITES action plan that outlined the strategies and timeline for achieving the green certification. In doing so, Straughan educated the contractor and other interested parties on the SITES certification to ensure that requirements were being met. Straughan provided status updates throughout the construction process and reviewed all project materials for compliance. At the end of construction, Straughan provided a final SITES documentation package to submit for certification.
